The city of tsars invites you to enjoy the summer Russian, historical monuments, traditional meals and navigations pins.

As Venice and Amsterdam, St. Petersburg is part of a select group of cities built on a network of canals that give a particular charm. Water is, of course, an essential element in this magnificent city, rising over 42 islands. But only she can dazzle from the major strengths such as San Pedro and San Pablo, built before the city itself.

The walks along the Neva River, visits to the Hermitage Palace and a large number of monumental works charmed the rich architecture. But surely one of the greatest treasures of this imperial city is the accumulation of portraits that have made it the greatest Russian writers.  The Gardens of Peterhof, churches such as St. Isaac or Spilled Blood, of course the Fortress of St. Peter and St. Paul and the imposing Hermitage are themselves postcards of the city and activities that must be addressed with at least three or four hours of time to enjoy them thoroughly. Something that organized tours are not always able to provide, even in places like St. Petersburg do achieve containment expected to provide a front of a strange language and a culture little known to the traveler.

In the Venice of the North is not surprising that one of the most attractive channel is to go easy on board cruise boats collective or sophisticated. In any case, the view from the Neva river or canal is magnificent.

Before boarding, we must surrender to the kindness of the local cuisine. A miss is the bar of the Hotel Astoria, located opposite the front of the church of St. Isaac’s for a drink at the same place where Adolf Hitler had planned to celebrate the victory over the Russians that never happened. Even been aware that the invitations were printed with this address. Another site with history is the Palkina, restaurant founded in 1785 that allows to know how the czars or dined celebrities such as Tchaikovsky and Dostoyevsky.

A very important detail is that in restaurants; as Demidoff, Suvoroff or scenoi Za, are ideal places to choose a set menu. The mechanism is simple: at the time of booking the table, something generally essential, it is agreed a fixed menu that includes admission, soup, main course, dessert, water, tea or coffee. The approximate cost is $ 40 and the reason for this approach is that otherwise it can take two hours to lunch. And finally, you can not leave St. Petersburg without having tasted the letter Podvorie, the most famous restaurant of traditional Russian cuisine, located in Pavlovsk, near the palace of Tsar Paul I.

Turning to the channels, the choices are numerous. From simple walks along the Neva to $ 13 per participant, to an evening out that displays the time when the bridges are raised from a boat.

In the tours is always the chance of finding a guide who speaks English, Spanish, French, Italian or German, so that nobody is left without knowing the details of the architecture and neighborhoods that will be visiting not only to cross the Neva but other rivers like the Fontanka or Moika addition to other channels during each summer, come alive and flow through the veins of this city, the most deliberate and fantastic world.
