Easter Island its origins dating

Sábado, abril 30th, 2011

With triangle and each vertex a volcano (Terevaka, Puakatike and Rano Kau), Easter Island offers a unique and endemic fauna make it a place unlike anything seen before. Its hills, tinged with a yellowish green scorched by the sun and windswept almost nonstop we offer miles and miles of visibility, a horizon almost as wide as the ocean that surrounds it, by the total absence of trees.

Deforestation is another of the great mysteries of the island. As they have found evidence of palm groves and tropical plants, some geographers point to the lack of rain or the “Little Ice Age” that occurred between 1650 and 1850 as guilty of extermination of the native flora. Others believe that the most likely reason is the arrival of man. The overcrowding crisis suffered by the island affected both the culture and history of the Rapa Nui people as its vegetation gradually exterminated. (más…)

The Amazon: an illusory paradise

Viernes, abril 29th, 2011

The world’s most powerful river, rather than the Nile, the Ganges or the Mississippi itself. Born in the Andes, over five thousand feet, between snow and clouds, emerges from a rocky crevice, barely a trickle of clear water. While most Andean rivers have eroded the easiest path to the Pacific side, just a hundred kilometers, the Amazon chose a long journey to the Atlantic, a distance greater than that which separates New York from Paris.

The Amazon

When one considers sailing the Amazon, the imagination takes flight, from the huge anacondas the classic image of Indians in the distinctive bowl cut, through the colorful birds and the silent but deadly jaguar. All these images exist, but in a jungle beat actually much quieter than we think, equally elusive monster that flow currents that sweep the Amazon, barely perceptible on the surface through the vertices of swirls, which look out to be everything in its path. Nature Safari in Norway

Jueves, abril 28th, 2011

Perhaps this is one of the most spectacular sightings that we can do in Norway. The sighting of whales and fin whales, among many other species is warranted, from 25 May to 15 September, and only cancels out when bad weather makes it inadvisable for passengers. The famous orca, or killer whale is also visible, but for this we have to travel to the Lofoten Islands and Vesterålen in winter, from November only. A unique experience in life.

Wine tasting in Franschhoek – South Africa

Miércoles, abril 27th, 2011

South Africa is the ninth biggest wine producer in the world. Franschoek is the city logo to visit the best wineries in South Africa. Although the city itself seemed a bit artificial, the place is worth to be visited by the beauty of the valley as factories producing modern South African wine tastings will allow us to end up buying wine bottles or cases of wine. The varieties are planted in Franschhoek Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Colombard, Chardonnay and Syrah.

Trips to the Cerro Rico de Potosi

Martes, abril 26th, 2011

The Cerro Rico de Potosi, Bolivia, gets up every morning smaller. The red, ocher, brown and silver is lost through your pores after centuries of mortal wounds. Farther and farther from the sun and closer to the fire of the deep, the mountain became known to Potosi in the world and dragged his people into a nightmare of tunnels, passageways and slavery, still dominates the city, but every day slightly smaller.

The city wakes up early. Just look at first light to 4,067 meters above sea level when its inhabitants, accustomed to rationing of oxygen, they start a new day, for many of them deep in the beautiful hill or Orcko Sumaj. (más…)

Cantabria: the beauty of the unseen

Domingo, abril 24th, 2011

The green and amber beauty is hidden under Cantabria mountains and behind the clouds. When the fog seems a veil over the landscape dotted with rain shy and stately homes, a ray of sun creeps timidly and opened the curtain on a green without end, which seems to cry aloud for the prominence of its enormous cultural and artistic heritage, subtly concealed under the earth, as if its most precious treasure in question. And it Cantabria, a province in northern Spain, is the region that retains the most underground of the world heritage, by the universal flag Altamira caves which are officially closed to the public since 2002 and confirmed by the recent spectacular The discovery of Soplao.
