To get from Toulouse to Barcelona by train. Transfer must be made train travel time is about five hours and although the journey is not particularly difficult, we must take into account a number of issues not to take the odd nasty surprise.

Toulouse – Matabiau:
The Toulouse train station Matabiau is relatively central location and is just after crossing the Canal du Midi which surrounds the old town of Toulouse, northeast of the city. Matabiau train station is a very cute and very large, so it should come up with a good margin of time because we have clarified with information panels, and rail timetables.

To travel from Toulouse to Barcelona by train to do obligatory stop in the French city of Narbonne. Here we have to change to a train that suits the different gauge of Spain, and we usually pick up a Spanish Talgo. To reach Narbonne two trains departing from Toulouse, but only bound for Marseille TGV arrives just in time to change trains and take the one going to Barcelona. The TGV Toulouse – Marseille to Narbonne costs € 25.90 and you can buy a ticket on the train.
There are two stops along the way and one of them is Carcassonne, so if you become famous medieval town that also applies much of the travel experience to explain on this page. The TGV from Toulouse at 6:54 a.m. (there is another train running in the afternoon), and in theory arrives at 8:09 a.m. to Narbonne, but in my case arrived at 8:15 a.m., with no mishap to justify it. This is important because the train to Narbonne to Barcelona leaves at 8:20 a.m. (track 1), so you have to be very attentive to change trains.

Route Narbonne to Barcelona:
On the way from Narbonne to Barcelona, another important issue to consider is who is forced to travel with tickets bought before boarding the train, so we have at most ten minutes to buy a ticket at the station. If you become a full buy it there, carrying 45 € in cash for prompt payment (Price 2010), it is best to buy the ticket earlier in this web. This is because the train from Narbonne to Barcelona is transboundary, which spend at least three or four police checkpoints, where we have to show ID or passport to the French police and then to the Spanish. It is also sure to pass the Renfe reviewer to validate our ticket and if we have not been able to buy in Narbonne, we have to get down in Portbou mandatory, and wait for another train from there. Will not let us pass the border without identification and ticket validated.
Apart from these minor problems, the most important is the short lead time to change trains at Narbonne, is a quiet and pleasant journey. If we left Toulouse at 6:54 a.m., come to Barcelona (Sants Station) at 11:48 a.m.. In reality, some minutes later. In our journey we cross the French regions of Midi-pyrene and Languedoc-Roussillon, and have plenty of time to savor the landscape green and rested in southern France. Once in Spain, spend nearly the center of Girona, and quickly discover the imposing cathedral and well below the slow moving from Onyar, surrounded by colorful facades from some of the oldest houses in the Catalan city. The hearing only lasts a couple of minutes, but really worth it unmissable.
Good Luck!
