Trekking in northern Morocco (Rif)

If you want to know the Rif Mountains and the nature of northern Morocco, trekking through the area is the best option. Chef Chaouen is about 80 km from Tangier and 600 meters high. With its medina painted blue and white is the perfect place to relax before starting the route.

During the trek you can walk through beautiful valleys, you’ll see waterfalls, rivers, and you can even see the Mediterranean if the day is clear. It is common to find animals such as monkeys and wild goats. During the tour you can relax in campgrounds in the nearby towns.

In the Rif can enjoy several possible routes, two to five days, including Chefchaouen, the dam of Akchor and Talambot. The most interesting point is the natural arch of rock known as Puente de Dios, Kelaa Oued cascade, and numerous pools that are in the river Farda. The most authentic city center of Morocco (Fez and Marrakech)

The most authentic cities in Morocco are Fez and Marrakech, with colors and aromas that captivate the traveler. Visiting these towns, visitors will realize it is as I had imagined hearing the tales of The Thousand and One Nights.

Fez is Morocco’s third largest city and the city with the largest souk. We recommend a couple of days to visit the city, although its great souk with its steep and narrow streets will be lost perhaps half a day for them. It is suggested that the tour of the city walking around the walls and continuing to go the Fez el-Bali. The Fez el-Bali Medina of Fez, the city’s Old Town, this place preserves the structure of the twelfth century. On your way do not miss the tour of the labyrinthine souks of Fez el-Bali is worth remembering that the axis of communication consists of the el-Kbira Tala (large hill) the hub of most of the streets. Into the desert: (Merzouga and Todra Gorge)

If you want to adventure, you can not miss a tour of the desert sleeping under the stars in the Sahara in Merzouga dunes, visit the Todra gorges, the Draa Valley and many more places around etc.

Merzouga is the most spectacular door of the Sahara desert in Morocco. To reach Merzouga first arrived by road to Erfoud, where it is advisable to stock up on groceries. From the main street comes a road in south-east to Merzouga, at that point will be an area of almost one hundred miles which highlights the golden sands of Erg Chebbi (Merzouga dunes.) Then go to an area further north of the dunes and reach a shelter area and along the beach to the west will see the village of Merzouga. During the day you can see the sand dunes are an orange color that creates a spectacular color during the day.

Morocco travel Tips:

– If you get to Morocco by ferry, do not despair at the endless queues to be formed to show your passport, not even if the ferry is delayed. We recommend that if you use another carrier after the ferry trip well in advance.

– You must remember that this area of the Rif, 90% of its arable land is used for the production of hashish. Although it may seem a dangerous place, not. We must remember that possession of cannabis is punishable by sentences of three months to five years.
