Between legend and tradition, between sea and high mountains, the Pyrenees Navarro deploys its plural and diverse geography. With an area of over 2,000 km. square, nearly 100 of border with France and an extraordinary nature, has remained intact for centuries, the Pyrenees Navarro is offered as a unique option. These are located north of Navarre, being a mountainous area traveled for centuries by warriors, shepherds, pilgrims, kings, heroes and smugglers. The Pyrenees form a landscape of high peaks and deep valleys, shady forests and bright alpine meadows, gorges and ravines.

The Pyrenean chain drops gently down from east to west. Since the border between Aragon until the Cantabrian coast, the Atlantic continental climate and the landscape becomes transformed. From the imposing escarpments of Larra massif (one of the most impressive karst massifs of Europe, southeast of which is the highest peak in the Pyrenees Navarro, La Mesa de los Tres Reyes 2442 m.), and large tracts of beech -fir forest of the Irati Forest, through the Collegiate Orreaga / Roncesvalles, the landscape is softening as it approaches-Bidasoa Valley Baztan and towering plateaus Aralar Urbasa and Andia.

Routes in The Navarrese Pyrenees:

From Pamplona, shall be sent by car to the Valley of stirrups, travel along the national road 135, from Pamplona to France by Luzaide-Valcarlos. From Larrasoaña northward through Urdanitz and Zubiri, we Eugi.
Beyond Eugi, behind the beech Quinto Real, whose name refers to the tax that farmers in Baigorri (border region) paid for the use of pasture on the side of Navarre. After visiting the beech, Zubiri again to resume N-135 and passing by Erro BIZKARRETA-Gerendiain reach. From here and through Aurizberri / Espinal, we Auritz / Burguete.  We left Auritz / Burguete and the Collegiate direction we must go through a forest of larch, oak and beech.  Already Orreaga / Roncesvalles and after visiting the Collegiate Church, Museum, etc … we will go to Luzaide / Valcarlos, the «Valley of Charlemagne. (92 Km approx.)

Rute The Horreos:

Orbaitzeta retains three granaries and maimed a cruise to the edge of town. Their houses remain, despite the reconstructions, signals its original Gothic windows, arches and keys. You can also visit the Arms Factory Orbaitzeta.

Garralda of the N-140 we will go to the N-135, where you turn left then take the N-172 until you reach Lusarreta. After visiting the barn but Romanesque in style atypical for this area, we headed Uritz, beautiful village of Gothic buildings. In Maple we can visit the Romanesque church of Santa Maria Arce.

We headed south along Nagore and Itoiz and after reaching the road go up north to get to the Foz de Gaztelu. We continue north through Betelu Oroz and Hiriberri Aribe to reach Villanueva Aezkoa. After visiting this village, we will go to Abaurrepea / Abaurrea Baja, and after learning this little town, our next milestone will be Abaurregaina / Abaurrea High, the highest village in Navarra. The only thing left Jaurrieta visit. (83 Km approx.)

The South Hermitages Roncal and Salazar:

Started in the Roncal Valley, specifically Garde before heading for the NA-137 to Burgui.

The Navarrese Pyrenees

Burgui Vidángoz us closer to going on for 9 km. Barranco de la Foz de Biniés. Two large rocks announces the village before reaching Vidángoz.

From here and after passing the Port of Igal, come to the NA-178 at the height of Güesa, where we turn left to head south.

Before coming to Uscarrés and Iciz, visit Izal. For the NA-178 southbound reach Navascués, where before heading to the High of the Crowns to divert us ASPURZ. From ASPURZ Navascués again and passing through the Alto de las Coronas Burgui finally reach. (81 Km approx.).
