Benissa is rich, rich with monuments. As I strolled down the centre of the historic area,I felt as though I had come upon a huge museum made up of gorgeous buildings and narrow streets that spoke to be about its history.

Riding through the rugged surroundings of Benissa, enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Marina Alta in the province of Alicante, is the latest offer in active tourism, allowing horse-riding enthusiasts to discover the area’s superb flora and fauna. The offer includes a delicious barbecue at the end of the excursion.

Horseback.
The Marina Alta Riding Centre proposes six routes of tourist interest and of enormous environmental value, with the only requirement of having some aptitude in horse-riding, in the gaits of walk, trot and gallop. The horse-riding excursions are made in small groups led by guides with good knowledge of the surrounding natural environment and the local fauna. It is the guides themselves who give riders all the information on the places they visit.

These horse-riding excursions, whose participants can use their own horse or one provided to riders by the Riding Centre, are designed so that visitors can explore the natural environment in depth, in an entertaining, adventurous way.

Golf.
Golf is one of the most popular pastimes and there are many courses in the region. Below is a list of the golf courses and a rough guide to the prices you can expect to pay here on the Costa Blanca – please remember to bring your handicap cards as some courses will not allow you to play without it.
