Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the United States. It is filled by rain, torrent, and snow runoff from the steep mountains that encircle it. While the lake is the central stage for summer activities - boating, swimming, and the likes - the fine peaks and many ski resorts are the principal destinations of winter vacationers.
