Varanasi – “City of Death”

There is a place in India at all ardent devotees of Hinduism in its many manifestations come to celebrate the end of his life. Called Varanasi (Sanskrit, Varanasi) and is at the confluence of the rivers Varuna and Asi, along the sacred Ganges.

At the site there are hundreds of sadhus (Hindu priests), sick and elderly who are on the last leg of its existence that sojourn in the same direction, to make their final prayers and ablutions in the sacred waters of Mother Ganga, between cows , buffalo, dogs, goats, monkeys, fishermen, women doing laundry and children laughing and playing happily while bathing in the river, apparently oblivious to everything going on around them. The story turns upon the construction of the Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful that can be counted: the emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. It is a love song to a sublime love that will last over time, and kept alive in each of the stones of the temple, each of flowers of the gardens surrounding it, is a love that surrounds you and remains within you, while the eyes of those who admire what we cannot look away this sublime work. And it is this love, this wonderful story that the Taj Mahal has become a symbol throughout the history of humanity, not its unparalleled beauty, but its history. Just to point out that living in India hundreds of languages to give an idea of the diversity that this country contains. Travel to Asia for this town is a dip in a sea of diverse cultures nurtured for five thousand years of history.

Located in southern Asia, India accounts for most of the Indian subcontinent. But the space is not about: it is the second most populous country in the world behind China. 1100 million people of various identity traits. (más…)

Chidambaram, Thanjavur and Trichy in India

Chidambaram:
The town of Chidambaram is situated in the central part of the state of Tamil Nadu, South India. The city is on the Thanjavur-Chennai route.

Chidambaram (also Thillai) literally means the sky permeated by an atmosphere of intelligence and wisdom.
The golden hall of dance was built and covered with plates of gold by Jatavarman Sundroid Pandya (years 1251-1272). I was very proud of his achievement, and as such assumed the title of Raja Hemchandandana (literally the king who covered the temple with gold). (más…)

Varanasi, the ancient city of India

On the western side of the river Ganges stands a city of over one million misnamed by British colonizers Varanasi and known by the Indians as Vanarasi.
This city is a universal spiritual navel cradled by the waters of a holy river and provides the traveler of the most intense experiences that can live on Indian lands.

A look at the city:
We prefer to contemplate the delicacy of benareses to drop the Ganges (small flower wreaths adorned with a lit candle), the Malhas. And why not? share the sacred ritual of smoking herbs with some Shadu miles of dreadlocks. (más…)
