You travel destination is near Bogotá? For tourists first come to town, they should know that the city is filled with an intense cultural life: crafts, theater, music and poetry. The historical center was renovated to become an artistic and full of cheap, much like Valparaiso: colonial houses, narrow streets, murals and sculptures and walkways where artists and academics.

Corners Bogotá:

Next to this area, called La Candelaria, are the government buildings. Circulate here cachacos, Bogota of ancient roots. They are easy to spot: with their dark suits and their exaggerated manners, seem to come out of a movie in black and white. The «cop» is also glimpsed in the small restaurant La Puerta Falsa (Calle 11 number 6-50), where you can eat a traditional breakfast Bogota: agua de panela cheese (hot drink of molasses, and chunks of cottage cheese inside) and crullers (cakes).

Nearby is the house of Rafael Pombo, the best known children’s poet Colombia. Now a foundation (Calle 10 with Cra 4), provides literature and drama workshops are taught by actors characterized as classic characters: Rin Rin Tadpole and the old woman.

Walking north, come to the Gold Museum (Calle 16 number 5-41). The restoration lasted 10 years, so is the new proud heritage of the capital. Its modern rooms guard the largest collection of gold pieces in the world. It was a must in school, but in the version reloaded all want to know the new hall of the offering: a lounge where you can experience the feeling of being in a mystical ceremony as those that inspired the legend of El Dorado (Tuesday to Sunday from 9-18 pm, $ 3, free under 12 Sunday: 10-16 hrs., admission is free).

The square in the Chorro de Quevedo (Calle 13 Carrera 2), where presumably the founding of the city is the epicenter of the movement of young artists and Bogota, the quintessential hippie space. It takes corn beer and craft sales in the middle, people sit to listen to stories and poetry outdoors.

A classic is also the hill of Monserrate, at dawn or at night (the rest of the day was full). If you walk up the 3182 meters high will be in the way athletes and pilgrims who offer it as a sacrifice. If yours is not the sport or the pilgrimage, you can upload by funicular or cable car. Here you have the best night view of Bogotá. Once up, do not miss the food Bogota (especially the melting pot) of the restaurants San Isidro and Santa Clara. And be careful if you go to the groom: tradition says that anyone who enters the sanctuary of Monserrate as a couple will not marry. Better visit the basilica alone.

The Bohemia Bogotá:

In the foothills of the Eastern Cordillera of Bogota, where a few years ago could not walk at night, is now the epicenter of hippie-chic in the city: La Macarena, renovated, large houses converted into lofts, art galleries, small restaurants (alternative clothing shops) and vintage bike tours. Here are the Botero Museum, the MAMBO and Park Towers, built by Rogelio Salmona (nicknamed «the transformer of cities»).

Places to eat:

Hidden among its streets is the restaurant of Leo Cocina y Cava. She, Leonor Espinoza, is chef of Gourmet Canal, and local, a secret you want to keep (although one of the best in Latin America as in magazines). The cuisine is unique. The reason? For two years traveled across the country discovering the secrets of ancient cuisine, then merged with gourmet dishes. Recommended: ice cream Kola Román (fuchsia and a very sweet drink that is taken in the Colombian Caribbean coast) with vanilla hot over sliced bananas (Calle 27 numbers 6-72).

The Toy is a Colombian restaurant (specialty grill), where inspiration is the more than 2,000 toys collected during seven years by their owners. All toys are made of: the tables, dishes and glasses. However, there is a place for children: their customers (most elite) are executives and entrepreneurs.

Good Luck!
